Thanks to the initiative of the industrialist Francesco Pellin, in 2000 in the city of Varese, starts up the Foundation that takes his name.

Purpose of this corporation, as the statute says, is "the safeguard, the promotion, the divulgation and the improvement of the collection, which is made of important works of Renato Guttuso that are a significant testimony of the contemporary italian art".

The Foundation, actually, has formed itself around that which has been unanimously called the most important private collection of the sicilian painter's works, not only for the number, but expecially for the historical and artistic value of each work and for the wideness of the period to which they belong, from 1931 to 1986.

In 2005 it’s inaugurated the first exhibition of the entire collection in Milan and Rome.
